It is quite interesting how the number of daily diagnoses of Covid-19 are at "record levels" and at the same time the number of ICU beds and hospitalizations for long term are not a huge news story. Nor are the daily number of deaths from Covid-19. Six weeks ago, this was the ONLY story. Why do you think that is?
It is my belief that there was a lot of media induced panic in the first month or so of the pandemic. The scare was in, people who got sick seemed to be hospitalized quite quickly. And putting folks on ventilators was being done at almost a ridiculous pace. And the media took the numbers to the worst case scenario for obvious political reasons. They hate President Trump, which is just awful in and of itself, but they project a VIRUS as the President's identity. It is juvenile and represents a sickening twist of common logic. Very bizarre if you think about it.
Yes, Covid-19 is a tough disease. It gives you tons of awful symptoms, many folks cough a horrible cough for many weeks. The fevers and pneumonia type symptoms are also awful and scary. I won't say exactly why because I have no scientific evidence, but I believe that the Covid-19 may have been around for many months prior to the pandemic.
Fast forward to now. The daily case numbers, record levels. But we don't hear the major mobilizations/overcrowding of ICU wards. Deaths from Covid-19 are not even a news story now.
My unscientific theory is that the United States is truly muscling through it. There will be a large number of cases forthcoming, but we are way more capable to battle it. More folks seem to be winning their personal Covid-19 battles with treatments, meds, and quick diagnoses.
America will get past this. Our country will actually be better for it. We have learned a lot about a lot with respect to pandemics and viruses. We will also bring the economy back to record levels. Will things be exactly the same probably not for a while, but it WILL happen.
